Out of control
A chaotic world without rules. A world imbued with the remnants of its own fluidity of meanings, rituals, and customs, where everything merges into a shapeless mass of varied interpretations of content and concepts. A frenetic reality, pulsating with rhythm, connection, and technology, whose quality of use is markedly inferior to the potential it holds within.
Technology has shortened distances in all operational areas of society. In transportation, education, services, and time. All this speed increases levels of comfort and perceived well-being, but drastically reduces perceptual processing times and reaction times; we have more stimuli around us than we can correctly process. We are bombarded by a continuous and inexhaustible flow of information, which overstimulates our minds, making us less attentive and stubborn to focus on a single task, losing sight of countless details of the surrounding reality. A reality imbued with meanings, fictitious identities, emotions, and superfluous awareness, where the real and the virtual intertwine and blur into a single space-time line, where everything becomes surreal. A seductive surrealism that distracts from one's responsibilities and duties, where the pursuit of one's pleasure becomes the sole purpose of life, making some unable to escape from this vortex. A world of hyper-connected individuals, devoid of objectives, transfigured by their human nature and rendered almost alien, xenomorphic beings or anthropomorphic robots, by their incessant interaction with the virtual. Subjects deprived of their humanity and transformed into mechanical puppets with a metal cable emanating from their nape, exercising total control over the quality of their consciousness, determining what is true and what is false instead of their capacity for discernment.
