Come on, go out and face the unknown
We all must grow and take on our responsibilities. We must emerge from the cocoon of childish certainties and securities towards the challenges that life offers us, away from any form of support and distant from the memory of simple and well-trodden paths. We must learn to confront and become familiar with the daunting possibility of deviation from the norm, of change, of the looming unpredictability.
Simple, repeated, and familiar things appeal to everyone. The thought of having to exert more effort than usual does not stimulate us and does not seem to satisfy our fantasies. However, anyone who has ever had to face the looming presence of a tedious intrusion from outside, such as an illness, a loss, a mourning, and much more, has realized well that difficulties hurt, but they are part of our evolutionary path. They break into our routine like stones thrown at a window, defacing that image of purity and sanctity, pedantically promoted by a family of loved ones who, while acting for our good, distort and corrode that thirst for knowledge and experimentation that is part of our biology. People who love us but with their suffocating love can prevent us from shaping life according to our own rule of art. People who can instill fears through emotional blackmail and transmit false precepts for their own interest or for ancestral fears dwelling in their minds. False myths and beliefs about how the world really is, from people who may never have truly experienced it. We are made to leave the nest and not to dwell there for life. Autonomy is not natural, it is not innate, but it can be translated as the outcome of a process of examination and analysis of the world that lasts throughout our existence. It never ceases. This world needs people who demonstrate courage, not in the bellicose sense of the term, but with a simple and mature action; leaving behind the world of comfort and security, in order to embark on an endless journey where one will have the opportunity to gain experience and fend for oneself, with one's own abilities and resources, just as the indomitable figure, with a backpack on their shoulders, prepares to face the dynamics of a highly incongruous society.
